More About Steve
I am a Winona native and an alum of Winona State University. I have just moved back to Winona about 2 ½ years ago after being gone for about 17 years during which I worked for several different companies including Ford Motor Company, John Deere and IDEX Corporation. Moving several times, including an 18 month stay in Germany, has provided my family and me many experiences and
memories. I am currently employed here in Winona at PlastiComp, Inc., as Manager, Manufacturing Technology and Engineering. Outside of work, I am busy spending time with my 3 children, Hunter, Summer and Briar, but also find time for hunting, fishing, boating, riding motorcycle and watching or attending various sporting events. I keep active playing volleyball, basketball, running and participating in triathlons. I continue to be involved at Winona State University as an active member of the Industry Advisory Board for the Composite Materials Engineering Program. I am also a member of the Board of Directors for the Winona ORC Industries, Sauer Health Care and the Winona Senior High Touchdown Club.
Last spring I was asked to be a participant in Dancing with the Winona Stars as a local “Star” by the instructor of the 5 am workout class I attend a the YMCA…and yes…asked me in front of the whole class. So it was hard for me to say no, so I agreed to at least consider it. After looking more into the benefits of the
event and how it gives back to our local community, including charities, I agreed to be one of the local Stars. Besides, it sounds like it is a lot of fun from some feedback I received from previous “Stars”. Then I started the search for the charity I would be dancing for and decided on Team Vogel. I chose Team Vogel because cancer has touched everyone in the community in some fashion…either as a survivor or knowing a relative, friend or neighbor that has dealt with cancer. I also like the fact that all the funds raised support the
“Pay It Forward” philosophy and stay local to help families currently dealing with cancer along with local cancer research. I have a fund raiser that is being finalized soon….themed “the 12 Dance Moves of Christmas”. Be sure to watch and listen to the local media and the Dancing with the Winona Stars Facebook page to find out more details about this event. It’s great to see the excitement and local support of the event, the Stars and the charities. In addition, for me personally, is another way for me to support and give back to my hometown community.
