Just a friendly reminder - we will be accepting nominations for 2014 until April 1, 2014.  If you or someone you know is dealing with cancer (in the Winona Area), and could use additional support - please take a moment to submit a nomination.  (The nomination tab can be found on our homepage or by clicking the link below.)

Color Out Cancer...

This past week the creative juices were flowing in the Salisbury House...  Scary I know.  This truly was a collaborative work of love created for the Health Expo we will be participating in tomorrow (See flyer below).

Amanda came up with the idea to do something fun and engaging for all ages...  Color out Cancer was born.  We tossed around ideas of creating pictures to color - journal entries - large group pieces, but nothing seemed to be the right fit.

Then it hit me - we need to create a way to color out the word cancer and change it into an inspirational word...

Now insert Bea to take the idea from my brain and make it happen.

We would love to have you join us at our booth tomorrow to Color Out Cancer and support this event.

Health Expo...

The weather is looking a little chilly tomorrow - so it would be a great day to attend an indoor event.  See what this community is doing to fight and prevent cancer.

...and a Note from Rach.

For those of you wondering, I still have not made a decision on the poop that tastes like chocolate or the chocolate that tastes like poop...

We are gearing up for the upcoming Brew Review and I thought I would show you the sample glass.  (The 3rd Annual Brew Review Details Coming Soon!)

TURBO KICK...

The 2nd Annual Turbo Kick Event was AMAZING (minus the sore muscles the following day...it may have helped if I had been physically active prior to 90 mins. of Turbo Kicking...)

The event would not have been possible without many...

Thank you to Jackie for her efforts and willingness to bring this group together.  To the YMCA for welcoming Team Vogel and allowing us to use their space.  All the instructors who donated their time and shared their talents with us - Denise, Norma, Trish, Lisa, Kelly and Jackie - THANK YOU!  And to everyone who attended.  Thank you for taking the time to come and join Team Vogel.

And what would a follow-up event note be without pictures...

...I selected this photo of the back-row group (the ones who may have spent more time trying to figure out how to perform the move than actually doing it) for we were all on task. A MIRACLE!

Thank you again to all the instructors - Norma, Trish, Jackie, Kelly, Lisa and Denise.

...And just for the record, some pictures did not make the blog :).  Although I threw my mother under the bus with the yoga story, I couldn't throw her under the bus with her photos from the event...there were just as many "blackmail" ones of me :).

and a Note from Rach.

As I sit here typing up the blog post, I have been questioning if I should share my point to ponder today...  Without better guidance (anyone sitting near me to ask / run this past), I am going to share this with you.

So here is your warning - if you have a weak stomach...Please skip this next portion.

Mr. Joe Vogel was a man who talked a good poop game.  Family dinners - jokes - his life - you name it.  Poop always came up.

This past weekend I was reading a book and this point to ponder was in it.  Would you rather eat a piece of poop that tastes like chocolate or would you rather eat chocolate that tastes like poop?

Something to think about...

Hugs - Rach

Are You Ready for Some Turbo Kick...

It is time to shake the winter weather (possibly some holiday / winter weight) and join us for 90 mins. of Turbo Kick.

As I was putting together my thoughts this weekend for the blog, I wanted to have a picture to highlight this event - give some ideas for those of you who are note sure what to wear...
Picture
Pre-Workout - She wasn't so sure she was up for it...
Picture
Hair up - She's ready to move! (I think???)...
Picture
...Cool Down - Let the hair down and take a few deep breaths. (..and wonder if we are done yet :)).
Two things...
1.  Please wear whatever you are comfortable in - you do not need to go the extreme fashion that Miss Zoe did.
2.  No animal was hurt during the photo shoot (Personally - I think she loved it).

OK - I have three things...If Zoe has not sold you on the event, the fact that my mother, Bea, will be there should.  I've done yoga with her - and it is really hard to get centered when your mother is tipping over giggling next to you.  I can't wait to see her turbo kick :).

Mexico...

I've been back in the land of super cold for a week and a half now...

Not much to say about the weather...

Just questioning why I continue to live here...

But enough about that!

I had the chance to run away from the cold for a week and help two amazing people celebrate their wedding.  It was an amazing trip to say the least.  The weather was wonderful - the crew on the trip even better - and the laughs shared by all ... overwhelming.

Although you learn how to live without someone, there are times you reflect and face their absence head on.  This was one of those times for me.  By no means did the absence of Joe consume me during the trip, but I would be lying if I didn't say it was with me throughout the week.  He would have loved every second of the trip - sharing such a special day with his friends.  But the truth is - he was there...  he lives on in each of them - all of us.

Thank you to such an amazing group of people that I am honored to call my family and friends.  And Congrats to the Bride and Groom.

Now the trip recap through the lens of the camera...

Joe and I made this for the Hubbards in 2010. I guess we knew they would get married before they did :).
Picture
An important lesson for all...Make sure to check the expiration date on your sunscreen. They do expire and it leaves one vulnerable to sun burn. Lesson learned here!

Best Partner in Crime EVER! For some reason she screamed ALOT when I was driving...

While in the jungle zip lining and atving - we were able to plant a tree and name it. There are definitely a few Joe / Joey Trees in the jungle...

DEPRESSING!

My thought for the night - keep life simple and remember to take time to breath (or have a cup of tea).

Signing off for the night.  Hoping to see many of you on Saturday!
