Updates: New Events Added!

The weekend was once again busy with fundraiser things.  Some very exciting news though!!  The tickets are now available for the dinner.  They are $5.00 each and consist of a pulled pork sandwich, a pickle, beans, and Lay's potato chips.  You can get them at HyVee, Midtown Foods, and 5th Street Liquor.  You can also order them on the teamvogelvscancer.com website via paypal and your tickets will be available on the day of the fundraiser.  If you don't want to use any of these methods, you can mail a check to TEAM VOGEL at 450 East 9th Street Apt 3, Winona, MN 55987 and we will have your tickets available at the event as well. If you do order your tickets this way, I ask that you write on the memo part of the check they the money is for the meal.  That way it won't get confused with a donation.  Speaking of donations, we are over $500 right now and getting a little bit closer to Dave shaving his head.  You can donate on the website at the bottom or send a check to the above address.

Thank you to everyone that is signing up for the 5K and 1 mile walk/run.  It is helping us out a lot!!  A couple events have been added to the event!  There will be a homerun derby at 6:30 on Saturday night.  It is $10.00 entry and I believe you get 10 balls.  We will also be having a chipping contest.  You will have the opportunity to chip a golf ball into a bucket, if you make it, you will be entered into a drawing to win the grand prize.  This is shaping up to be a great day and we will be announcing the families on here soon.  We still need permission from a couple families to use their name, some may want to remain anonymous.

We are still taking donations for the silent auction, so if you have a good idea for a basket or if you or your business have something, let me know by sending an email to teamvogel@hotmail.com.  Also, we could still use some baked goods!  We are a little over a week away from the big Chula Vista event!!  On Wednesday, June 2nd, Chula will be donating 10% of their proceeds to our fundraiser.  It will go from 11:00-9:00.  They have over 30 lunch specials and their main special that day is 1/2 off apps with purchase of an entree.  For those that don't care for Mexican, come have a drink or 10.  From 3-6, Chula offers $3.00 of Mega Margaritas and $1.00 of Imports.  I have mentioned a lot of times on here that my favorite thing to get there is the Chicken Chimi!!  We will also have people selling tickets for the meal at the fundraiser there as well as people handing out flyers with race registrations available as well!!  Let's try to make this a record day for Jason and the crew!!

Families Selected

I knew it would be a tough process to select the families, but I fully believe we chose 6 worthy families.  The families that were selected will be promoted now throughout the community, but we are also planning on doing something for those families that weren't selected.  After all the families are contacted, we will announce them on the here.  I feel great and am really looking forward to the concert tomorrow night.  It will be a long day, but is going to be a great experience!

Everything with the fundraiser is picking up!!!  Registrations for the race are starting to pour in, which is great because we need a solid number for shirt and water needs.  So please, if you know you are going to do the run/walk, sign up.  When you are signing up online, PLEASE hit "SUBMIT" on the registration before you use paypal.  The submit will send us your registration and then the paypal will be right there.  There are only a couple spots left for the men's softball tournaments and kickball is really starting to pick up!  We also have been having donations come in that you can make online or send to TEAM VOGEL 450 East 9th Street Apt 3, Winona, MN 55987.  Donations right now are a little over $400, so we are $2600 from Dave shaving his head and $4600 from me shaving my head.  Also, a reminder of the June 2nd event at Chula Vista.  10% of the proceeds going towards our fundraiser.  It will be from 11am-9pm.  There will be people there with flyers, race registration, and tickets for the meal available there as well.  Chula offers over 30 lunch specials and from 3-6 has a happy hour with $3.00 off Mega Margaritas and $1.00 off domestics.  They also offer on this day 1/2 off apps with purchase of an entree.  So, treat yourself to some great Mexican food while helping out a good cause!

Donation Challenge!

I have an exciting challenge for those that want to donate cash to the fundraiser!  If we raise $3000 in cash donations before the fundraiser, my old boss Dave Zimprich is going to shave his head.  If we hit $5000 before the fundraiser, I will shave my head as well!  You can donate on the homepage of the site through paypal at $10, $25, $50, or $100.  If those amounts don't suit you, you can always send a check to TEAM VOGEL at 450 East 9th Street Apt 3, WInona, MN 55987.  I will keep you all updated on where we stand for this once a week so you can see how close we are.  I would like to encourage everyone to continue signing up for the race, softball tournaments and kickball tournaments.  The men's softball is filling up really quick, so get your team in asap if you are going to have a team in it.  Information for everything is available at teamvogelvscancer.com.
