Happy Holidays from Ms. Scrooge

So I have not been in the holiday spirit as much as usual.  Just isn’t as much fun this year…

I miss giving and receiving presents before the actual holiday.

I miss being told the pink Christmas tree really needs to go.

I miss watching my husband walk into the house with 6 bags of toys for all the nieces and nephews and the excitement on his face.

I miss watching Elf with him 100 times in the month of December.

…and most of all – I miss him doing the shopping.  I was always in charge of making the gifts and he would go to the store to purchase the other parts we needed.  I’ve been putting off shopping and today I thought – I can do this.  Took a 2 hour nap in preparation – and made my way.  I was so annoyed at the first store, my mood went south real quick.  It is terrible to feel so crabby and pissed off, when you should be excited.  I apologize if I saw you and wasn’t super friendly – I needed a new attitude.  So I made it through and got a couple things, but still had a few others to shop for.  I knew I couldn’t handle one more store…so I thought, what store will be the least busy right now…Kwik Trip.  I apologize if you were one of the individuals left on my list – but yes – I did Christmas Shop at Kwik Trip.  It was wonderful.  No lines, friendly staff and quite the variety of things to choose from.

So it is official – Shopping is done and now I just need to finish making all the other odds and ends.  Mission almost accomplished.

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  I hope you have many moments of laughter and fun with your family and friends.  Remember to take time for the ones you love and tell them you love them too.

Sending my love and wishing this was my holiday photo this year.

PS – I will not be back on til after the New Year – I’m leaving next Sunday for some fun in the sun (I will share more when I return.)

Your footprints –

They’re everywhere.

They surround me.

Your prints cross my heart.

I see them in every memory.

I know your feet…

I know your toes.

(I know you need to cut your toenails.)

Your toes have touched the sand.

I wish they would touch me.

I miss your feet –

I miss you.

Your footprints are everywhere and I am grateful for the mark you left.

Did you leave your footprint somewhere?

Love - Rach

One of the Reasons I am Happy.

So...today is the 6th, too much time has gone by since I've seen Joe.  I've decided I am going to focus on one of the many things that still makes me happy everyday.

Picture
Miss Zoe.  She is my  "new" partner in crime and truly brings a smile to my face each day.  (Some of you might be thinking - what about Skittles...She is a little moody and so Zoe and I try and give her space.  She is still in the family.)

Watching Zoe play in the leaves and snow was one of our favorite things to do.  Zoe was our little girl and the love she shows me still and the love she shared with Joe is / was amazing.

Zoe was always by Joe's side - ready to help eat a sandwich, take a nap, or give him a needed kiss.  They were always together.  It has been hard on Zoe.  She is different.  She lays on the couch and is just sad.  She is coming around though.  She snuggles in at night with me - and will not rest until her pillow is properly placed under her head.  She found a tennis ball in the basement the other day and played with it for 5 hours straight - I only wanted to burn the ball 2 times.  She tried to playfully bite my face off while I was working on some Yoga.  Her spirit is picking up.

More frequently she has been barking like someone is here.  I get up and go look to see who is here - and there is no one.  I really feel like Joe is here - just stopping in to check on us.  At first, it was a little unsettling, but it's a bark that states - I know who is here...it's my dad.

Here are a few more pictures that show our "dog"hter.  She is basically human - her posture, her personality and her attitude :).

Where would I be with out Zoe...The other day, I teared up when asked a question...  Zoe hopped right up on my lap and tucked her head into my chest - a hug - she needed to comfort her mom.

The best part - Zoe was a birthday present from Joe.  Just one of the many special things he did for me.  I am lucky in some ways - in a lot of ways.
