Picture of the Best Guy in the World - He could hear the ocean :)

So this week I would like to share an essay written by our niece, Kirsten.  Joe touched so many lives - young and old.  Kirsten this is amazing - Enjoy...

Joe

My Uncle Joe was a great person.... He dedicated his life to Cancer.  Helping the people with it, worrying about all the people that have it, living it.

Joe was a Cancer survivor himself, but it came back in the year 2009.  Right at that moment it became clear to my Aunt Rachel that there was a BIG challenge to face ahead.

Rachel is Joes wife, they got married in 2006. When you get married and say your vows... the one about," I will be there for you in sickness and in Health." That vow became true for Rachel.

Joe began treatment once again, but this time it wasn’t easy for him. Considering Joe had brain cancer, and caner all down his spine. Joe fought and he fought hard, so when you think of Joe, I hope these words come to mind: LEAD, GIVE, SERVE, HELP, SHARE.

When you say or hear the name Joe Vogel, or Rachel Vogel. You should think, or say after a kind word in prayer for them......say" THANK GOD!!!JOE WAS HERE!!!"

I LOVE AND MISS YOU!!
Kirsten

P.S. Rachel... thanks for assisting him in his work of wonder.

Hope everyone is doing well and GO TWINS!
Love - Rach

Joe did all these things in his job, his cancer journey, his love of his wife and family and those he encountered. He was a Courageous Leader that gave Hope to all!

Can't wait to see you tomorrow!

Rachel,

I was so delighted to open your blog and read this piece written by Kirsten!

She wrote this essay for religion class a couple of weeks ago. I was so proud of her when she read it out loud in class! I know there were several of us with tears in our eyes as she struggled to finish reading.

I do want you to know that you are prayed for virtually every day here CJHS. God bless you and know that you are loved, prayed for, and thought of often.

I hope you are doing well and hanging in there. You are an amazing young woman, and I'm sure that
God has big plans for you.

Blessings to you and to all those you love,

Linda Gudmastad

Thanks to Kirsten for letting Rachel share that with us all. It is beautiful.

I do feel thankful every day that Joe was here, and that he had Rachel by his side. I miss Joe more every day but am so proud of him and Rachel, their hard work, and their lasting impact. They are true inspirations.

Love, Tanya

Joe Vogel began his battle with cancer in 2006. He became a leader in his community and a hero among his friends and family. He made it his personal mission to help in the fight against cancer. His wife Rachel is carrying out his dream to help families dealing with cancer and to find a cure for this disease.
